about us & our aspirations
We’re an indie art shop and secondhand marketplace based out of Portland (OR) carrying sincerely unique art pieces, accessories, collectibles, zines, home goods, and so much more! Our mission is to bring the sunshine; providing quality goods, uplifting artists and sellers, and giving back to the people and community who support us.
From the collective side, we offer the professional marketing, branding, and resources critical to being an artist and merchant in the modern age. We select our artists, works, and items based on quality – specializing in, and intentionally highlighting indie BIPOC, queer, and disabled artists/sellers.
For our audience we aim to be more than a business by being a community resource that gives back, encouraging and inspiring human connection, collaboration, and prosperity for future generations in everything we do.
the foundations of sunshine land
quality meets ingenuity
Items we carry are lovingly hand-picked and selected for the quality and ingenuity of their work. You can shop happy knowing the art and items we carry at Sunshine Land are made and sourced with love.
care for the land
We are committed to limiting our waste footprint using as much recycled/able and compostable materials for shipping and packaging as we can. We fundamentally support the work of indigenous artists and defenders towards a brighter tomorrow.
diversity makes us better
We are a working-class, Chicano and LGBTQ2IA+ owned and operated business, supporting and funding independent creators of diverse backgrounds and identities, always.

We only carry works from artists, creators, educators, and sellers representing their lived experiences and cultures. Art, published works, events, and classes are made by the living breathing community members of today. We do not accept, use, or support genAI art and works. We actively disapprove the theft of original works through AI.
-
Sunshine Land ensures quality in all the original works and pre-loved items we carry in our marketplace.
We de-center mass production, over-consumption, and production of items for trends or demand, focusing on quality over quantity. We only charge our items for what we know they’re worth – never over-pricing customers or shorting artists and sellers for their goods.
-
Our work strives to embody the importance of community with intention. With today and the future in mind, Sunshine Land’s promise is to show up for the present, living artists and community; making decisions and choices for a better tomorrow. We hope what we grow here has the ability to provide the fruits and comfort for the artists of tomorrow, and to eventually expand into a community center offering classes, gallery spaces, and studio access.
